We’d consider ourselves to be an ethical company, we don’t do cold calling, we don’t do spam and we conform to UK legislation, so when a company doesn’t and uses all kinds of dirty tactics then we have a problem. Let us introduce a company called Capital On Tap (New Wave Capital Ltd).
We started receiving unsolicited calls, texts and emails. Of course our data is out there but they simply wouldn’t take no for an answer, it became harassment. Apparently we were pre authorised for credit. Now for those that are aware of the law in the UK, you need to provide a simple one click unsubscribe option as well as an option to stop texts. Capital On Tap don’t do this; they send out bulk unsolicited emails with no unsubscribe option, they send out texts that tell you to respond with the word STOP to unsubscribe, but the number is withheld and you don’t have the option to respond. Of course the company know exactly what they’re doing. Any company that does this are SCAMMERS.
We did a bit of digging; Capital On Tap obtain company information on Endole; they set up an account on their system using your own details, then cold call you and bombard you with emails telling you that you’ve been pre authorised for credit. What’s even worse is that when you actually make a formal complaint and they claim to have removed your details, they still tell you that they’re going to send marketing emails and you have to fill out a form to stop these emails. But of course the link doesn’t actually work. Do not trust this company. Do not use this company. Their tactics are entirely illegal. Immediately make a complaint to the ICO. They do not have the right to retain your data.
Companies like this shouldn’t exist. Illegal tactics to literally harass you into doing business with them. Having made our own complaint with the ICO apparently they are a “company of interest” in relation to their illegal practices. Do not encourage businesses that operate this way; unscrupulous and illegal practices should carry stricter punishment in the UK. Just don’t do business with them. If they use illegal practices to get you to do business with them, can you imagine what you might face further down the line?
It’s interesting to note that the negative reviews online mostly relate to their illegal spamming practices. The company even respond to complaints stating that they think their spam is acceptable because they have “such a great product”. Avoid at all costs.
